Canals are one of Amsterdam’s most famous features and the inner city is surrounded by three main canals. The Innermost is the Herengracht (Lord’s Canal), the middle canal is the Keizersgracht (The Emperor’s Canal) and these have several monumental buildings along their banks. The final and outermost canal is the Prinsengracht (Prince's Canal) which has many canal houses that were built in the Dutch Golden Age during the 17th Century. Other Interesting sights along the Prinsengracht include the Anne Frank House Museum and the Westerkerk (Western Church, Amsterdam's tallest church) with the Homomonument (Gay Monument).
