(Image: © Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions 2004).Located in Museumplein, this National Museum is home to various works of art and crafts from the Dutch Golden Age, there are also an extensive collection of Asian works. Founded in 1800 in The Hague the museum was moved to Amsterdam in 1808 under orders of Louis Napoleon, the brother of the infamous Napoleon Bonaparte. The Rijksmuseum Research Library is part of the Rijksmuseum, and is the largest public art history research library in The Netherlands.
Through the period from 2004 to 2010, the Rijksmuseum is undergoing extensive renovations but it continues to be open during this time, though only a few of the prize masterpieces will be on display.
