Van Gogh Museum

Located in Museumplein, the Van Gogh Museum houses the largest collection of Van Gogh paintings in the world. The museum was completed in 1999 which makes it one of the newest museums in the city. Van Gogh was around in the latter half of the 19th century and his post-impressionist works are amongst the best known throughout the world. His works are also amongst the most expensive and it is easy to see why.

The museum details Van Gogh’s life story through a rough childhood and his various emotional states during his life till his death in 1890. Highlights of the tour include some his most famous works including the Potato Eaters, the Bedroom in Arles and one of the three ‘Sunflowers on a yellow background’ paintings.
